Ranked: The Top Cities in the World by Reputation
In an increasingly globalized world, city brands are becoming just as influential as national reputations.
From cultural influence to investment appeal, organizations now frequently measure cities on how well they attract talent, capital, and tourism.
This graphic, sponsored by DP World, shows the top 10 cities in the world by their 2024 Brand Finance City Index Scores.
Dubai: A Rising Global Brand
According to the 2024 Brand Finance City Index, which surveyed over 15,000 respondents across 20 countries, London tops the global ranking of city reputations with a score of 90.9.
Following London are New York (89.9) and Paris (87.8), while Tokyo (86.8) and Dubai (86.0) round out the top five.
Dubai has maintained its appearance in the global top 10 for the second consecutive year, increasing its score year-over-year by 2.1 points, the largest increase among any city in the top 40.
The infamous Gulf city added $6.6 billion in brand value from the previous year, largely due to its recent expo.
Unlike legacy cities with centuries-old reputations, Dubai’s brand was rapidly built through ambitious infrastructure projects, such as the Burj Khalifa, solidifying the city’s reputation.
A Strategic Gateway to Opportunity
A cornerstone of Dubai’s growth is Jafza, the Jebel Ali Port Free Zone. Over the past 20 years, it has attracted more than $30 billion in foreign direct investment.
Along with Jebel Ali Port, one of the world’s busiest seaports, this ecosystem supports over 1 million jobs.
With business-friendly policies, world-class logistics infrastructure, and a diverse talent base, the city is positioning itself not only as a regional leader but as an international city of the future.
As investors increasingly look for growth in emerging markets, Dubai stands out for its brand and city reputation, built on ambition and trade dominance.
