Up as Key Supplier Quanta Reports Production Bottlenecks

NVIDIA’s Blackwell Ultra GB300 AI servers are witnessing ‘unprecedented’ demand according to the supplier Quanta, who claims that production isn’t sufficient to fulfill the orders.

NVIDIA’s AI Server Shipments To Peak By Q4 According to Quanta, With Demand Staying Consistent In The Upcoming Years

Team Green had recently announced the production ramp-up of GB300 AI clusters, and it seems like the market demand for them is significantly higher than expectations. Based on remarks by Quanta’s EVP (via TED), it is disclosed that the demand for AI servers is ‘unimaginable’ and that NVIDIA’s GB200 and GB300 are the most popular options amongst customers. More importantly, Quanta is also reporting a production bottleneck, claiming that with the ‘AI hype’, the demand has exceeded far beyond the supply, and the momentum is expected to continue over the upcoming years.

Quanta is one of the key suppliers for NVIDIA’s AI servers alongside Foxconn, and the firm has also disclosed plans to diversify its production to the US, as well as regions such as Thailand and Mexico. Quanta’s Mexico plant is expected to initiate production by next year, and investments are also being made in California and Tennessee. Interestingly, Quanta expects that server shipments will peak by Q4, and a huge portion of it will account for Blackwell Ultra GB300 clusters.

NVIDIA’s Blackwell Ultra lineup has seen slight hiccups over the past, mainly related to how Team Green revised board design, from Bianca to Cordelia, which integrated a modular framework with SOCAMM memory design. But, according to reports, the supply chain couldn’t adjust to dramatic changes quickly, so Team Green eventually had to shift back to the older board design, similar to the GB200. This move allowed NVIDIA to ramp up Blackwell Ultra production seamlessly, with suppliers being onboard as well.

Based on what supply chain sources are reporting, NVIDIA’s AI servers will see strong demand moving into year-end. Moreover, we will also see the debut of Vera Rubin soon, which will give Team Green another boost in the AI industry.
