Qualcomm Brings On‑Premises Industrial AI & Siemens Factory Model at MWC : US Pioneer Global VC DIFCHQ SFO NYC Singapore – Riyadh Swiss Our Mind

Highlights:

  • At MWC Barcelona, Qualcomm Technologies demonstrates the use of AI in industrial applications based on a Siemens Autonomous Production model showcasing integration edge AI and private 5G networks for next generation industrial automation.
  • The showcase demonstrates coordinated autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) and robot‑arm operations over Siemens’ Industrial 5G network powered by Qualcomm® technology, enabling real‑time, on‑premises decision‑making.
  • A Siemens industrial PC equipped with the Qualcomm® Cloud AI 100 Accelerator Card can deliver local AI for worker assistance, diagnostics, quality inspection, and safer, smarter factory workflows.

At MWC Barcelona, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and Siemens AG showcase a technology implementation to accelerate the autonomous factory production. Qualcomm Technologies will be demonstrating on‑premise intelligence with AI integrated into a Siemens autonomous factory model. Together, the companies showcase the integration of private Industrial 5G connectivity with edge AI-based use-cases to enable more dynamic, efficient and intelligent autonomous production

Modern industrial environments increasingly rely on distributed, autonomous production cells and mobile robotics that must coordinate locally, intelligently, and more securely without dependence on centralized Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). To support this shift, Qualcomm Technologies is showcasing industrial‑grade computing with high‑performance edge AI and deterministic 5G communications from Siemens to enable faster decision‑making, enhanced safety, and smarter manufacturing workflows.

The demonstration includes:

  • An Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) connected over a Siemens private Industrial 5G Network powered by Qualcomm technology, transporting materials through the factory model.
  • Assembly performed by a robotic arm communicating with the AGV and production cells.
  • An AI agent is running locally on Siemens IPC hardware equipped with the Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 Card, analyzing system state in real time to determine the root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Additional AI‑driven tasks powered by Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 Accelerator Card such as real‑time process quality inspection and on‑premises industrial intelligence.

Siemens has collaborated closely with Qualcomm Technologies for many years to deliver private 5G network technology enabling autonomous production environments, providing a more reliable, low‑latency wireless connectivity needed to support flexible, mission‑critical operations. When combined with on‑premises AI, this enables manufacturers to automate production, improve quality and efficiency, and keep sensitive production on premises.

“By combining Qualcomm Technologies’ leadership in AI, edge computing and connectivity with Siemens’ expertise in factory automation, we are showcasing a new class of intelligent, autonomous manufacturing powered at the edge,” said Nakul Duggal, Executive Vice President and Group General Manager, Automotive, Industrial and Embedded IoT, and Robotics, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “This demonstration underscores our commitment to innovation for the next era of industrial transformation.”

“By bringing together Siemens’ Edge computing, networking, and private 5G with Qualcomm Technologies’ on‑device AI, we’re showing how security-focused, adaptive, and intelligent production can scale globally,” stated Thibault de Assi, Senior Vice President, Head of Digital Connectivity and Power, Siemens AG. “This showcase highlights a shared vision for the next major productivity leap in industry, where real‑time intelligence drives efficiency, resilience, and long‑term value for manufacturers.”

This demonstration of Siemens’ intelligent factory model powered by Qualcomm Technologies will be featured at Qualcomm booth 3E10, hall 3 during MWC Barcelona.
