AMD (AMD, Financials) and Eviden said they were selected to build Alice Recoque, a next-generation exascale supercomputer that will serve France’s high-performance computing and artificial intelligence needs. The system will be operated by the Commissariat a l’energie atomique et aux energies alternatives and led by Grand equipement national de calcul intensif.
Alice Recoque will be France’s first exascale system and only the second in Europe. The machine will use AMD’s next generation of AI and HPC processors, positioning it as a key resource for scientific research, industrial simulation and AI model development.
The project carries a total cost of 544 million and is funded through EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, supported by the Digital Europe Programme. Additional backing comes from the Jules Verne Consortium, which includes France’s GENCI and CEA, along with partners from the Netherlands and Greece.
