India’s economy is slated to grow by seven per cent this year, pushing it ahead of the United Kingdom as the world’s fifth largest economy.
This week on Down to Business, Anil Agarwal, an Indian billionaire who is the founder and chairman of London-headquartered Vedanta Resources Ltd., a multi-billion dollar company that produces aluminum, copper, iron ore, silver, lead zinc, steelmaking coal, oil and gas spoke about his career.
Agarwal, who splits his time between London, and Mumbai, was in Toronto to accept the Global India Award from the Canada India Foundation.
India is a growing source of investment for many Canadian pensions and mutual funds. There are also an estimated 80,00 Indian students enrolled in universities in Canada — more than China, Japan and the Philippines combined. Agarwal spoke about the growing relationship between India and Canada, and many other issues. As always the interview is edited for clarity and brevity.
