The Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s largest technology event taking place in January, is expected to spotlight the integration of artificial intelligence-powered systems into robotics, wearables, and mobility.
The overarching theme for next year’s CES, which takes place January 7-10 in Las Vegas, is AI, which continues to expand into robotics, autonomous driving, and augmented reality (XR), integrating machine intelligence into these fields.
The CES Innovation Awards offer a preview of these trends, with standout winners demonstrating groundbreaking applications of AI.
Kubota Corp. received the CES Innovation Award for its KATR robotic tractor, which features leg-like wheels that navigate slopes effortlessly and transport up to 129 kilograms of cargo on rugged terrain, promising productivity gains in agriculture and construction.
In the newly introduced Fashion Tech category, Myant Corp. won the award for its electric jacket, which uses electro-osmosis—harnessing liquid movement along solid surfaces under an electric field—to effectively manage sweat.
The jacket can discharge up to 200 liters of moisture per square meter per hour, addressing overheating issues.
Drone technology is also under the spotlight.
Police in Chula Vista, California, are deploying drones powered by Nearslab’s Drone as First Responder (DFR) system to 911 emergency sites, allowing drones to autonomously assess scenes before officers arrive.
AI’s transformative role will feature prominently in keynote speeches.
Nvidia Corp. Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang will deliver a keynote for the first time in eight years, during which time the company has evolved from a consumer graphics card maker to a global leader in AI infrastructure.
Nvidia’s AI and accelerated computing platforms now power 76 percent of the world’s 500 fastest supercomputers and are integral to major cloud and server manufacturers.
Panasonic Holdings Corp. CEO Yuki Kusumi will also deliver a keynote speech.
Since restructuring into a holding company in 2022, Panasonic has expanded into eight subsidiaries spanning electronics, cameras, batteries, and housing.
Continuing the trend of diverse representation, Volvo Group CEO Martin Lundstedt will highlight the Swedish company’s leadership in trucks, buses, construction equipment, and marine technology.
CES has broadened its keynote lineup to include leaders from industries beyond tech and mobility, such as Delta Air Lines Inc. and Sirius XM Holdings Inc.
On the exhibition floor, companies from home appliances, mobility, and XR sectors will showcase innovations.
The Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) will host fierce competition among major players, including South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co., SK hynix Inc., and LG Electronics Inc.; China’s TCL Technology Group Corp. and Hisense Group Co.; and Japan’s Sony Group Corp., Honda Motor Co., and Panasonic Holdings Corp.
