Finnish diplomat Kimmo Siira revealed that the country will pursue closer high technology collaborations with India in 6G, quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
Regarding energy collaboration, India’s Power Minister, RK Singh, is scheduled to visit Finland at the end of the year to study how the Nordic countries manage their energy grids. Finland has shown interest in partnering with India on its energy transition goals, particularly in optimizing the power grid and finding solutions for India’s renewable energy resources.
In the field of advanced technologies, Finland’s IQM and India’s C-DAC have a memorandum of understanding in quantum computing. The two organizations are currently in negotiations to collaborate and build a quantum computer in India.
Additionally, Finland aims to increase skilled labor mobility between the two nations as it faces an aging population. Finland’s Talent Boost program seeks to attract talent from India to fill its labor requirements, such as the need for 20,000 nurses in the next decade. Finland also desires greater collaboration with Indian talent in the fields of science and technology.
Overall, Finland’s new DESI initiative highlights its commitment to strengthening ties with India in various sectors, including quantum computing, biofuels, energy transition, and skilled labor mobility.
