Gartner says Global Semiconductor Revenue Increased 21% in 2024, Nvidia Surges to No.1 : US Pioneer Global VC DIFCHQ SFO NYC Singapore – Riyadh Swiss Our Mind

According to the recently released report by Gartner, the global semiconductor revenue increased by 21% in 2024, with Nvidia ranking no. 1, Samsung Electronics no. 2, and Intel dropping to no.3.

The report says that the global semiconductor revenue in 2024 totaled $655.9 billion, which was calculated as $542.1 billion in 2023.

The VP analyst at Gartner, Gaurav Gupta, stated about Nvidia

“NVIDIA moved to the No. 1 spot as a result of a marked increase in demand for its discrete graphic processing units (GPUs) that served as the primary choice for AI workloads in data centers.”

He further added about the overall performance of companies

“The position shift among the top 10 semiconductor vendor revenue ranking is due to large demand for AI infrastructure buildout and an increase of 73.4% in memory revenue,”

Gartner reported that Samsung Electronics retained its second position due to gains in both DRAM and flash memory. The prices rebounded sharply due to an imbalance in supply and demand.

Nvidia Stocks in 2025 After Trump Tariffs

After Trump imposed Tariffs, Nvidia’s stock has experienced a significant decline, falling 30% from its November 2024 peak of $153, resulting in a loss of around $1.1 trillion in market value. The company is also expected to lose further stocks. Despite his announcement of a 90-day pause on certain tariffs, Nvidia is facing major challenges. Specifically, the tariffs on goods from Taiwan and China, where Nvidia’s products are largely manufactured, have increased dramatically, with China’s tariff reaching a staggering level.

In this situation, Nvidia’s growth projections appear to be slowing down. In its latest forecasts for fiscal 2026, the company is predicting slower revenue growth and a decline in profit margins. Moreover,  the company’s gross margin is forecasted to drop by 8.4 percentage points to 70.6%. These figures suggest that Nvidia may face more challenges ahead, as its ability to meet growth targets will be tested by tariff uncertainties.

Although Gartner reported that Nvidia performed extraordinarily in 2024, the dark future looms with Trump tariffs and market uncertainty.
