India on $25-trillion economy path: Tata Sons chairman : US Pioneer Global VC DIFCHQ Riyadh UAE-Singapore Norway Swiss Our Mind

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran Friday said India’s dream of becoming a $25-trillion economy in its 100th year of independence is “very much achievable” and that India is “well on its path” towards the goal.

Chandrasekaran, who was speaking at the launch of the UP Global Investors Summit, said Uttar Pradesh (UP), especially led by its “growth engines” of agriculture, manufacturing and tourism, is “well placed” to capitalise on the trend and become a trillion-dollar economy when India becomes $5 trillion, and again become $2 trillion by the time India reaches $10 trillion in GDP terms.

He said the Tata group has huge expansion plans in the state with its hotel business seeing a significant opportunity from religious and wildlife tourism, and that it is also going to build an integral multimodal air cargo through Air India SATS with the Zurich Airport at the upcoming Jewar Airport.

Chandrasekaran said that “India, under the strong visionary leadership of Narendra Modi, has achieved a position where we are going to see India being the fastest-growing economy, not only in the current year but surely in the coming years of the decade”.

“It is not just about economic growth. What the PM has enabled is a 360-degree development, because there is a confidence and aspiration in every Indian, in every nook and corner of the country… so we are seeing economic development, development in quality of life, sports, and across the board you see it exhibiting itself in terms of aspiration and want to achieve more everywhere,” he said.
