Minister of State for Information and Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday termed Aadhaar a “critical piece of digital architecture”.
Chandrasekhar, while addressing an event, said that while Aadhaar was important for the growth of the Indian economy, it is giving digital India a shape as well.
“The Aadhaar ecosystem is propelling growth to empower each and every resident so that India is well on its way to become a $5 trillion economy soon,” Chandrasekhar said.

He further added that today, technology enables access to better services for education, health care and agriculture and helps ensure transparency and accountability.
“Implementation of initiatives like Aadhaar, UPI and digi-locker is ensuring faceless, cashless and paperless governance that has laid the foundations of a strong, robust and secure Digital India,” the minister added.

Highlighting the significance of Aadhaar 2.0 Chandrashekhar mentioned that regular consultation and discussion is important for impactful policy making and in the post-covid era, world is offering tremendous opportunity for growth in digital space.

“Our ambition is not just limited to domestic needs but to expand at a global scale. National security issue is very important – It demands for trusted ID and Aadhaar 2.0 is in sync with contemporary requirement given to ever emerging dynamic digital environment,” MoS IT added.
