NEW DELHI: The International Energy Forum (IEF), the world’s largest power organisation with 71 member nations, on Thursday counseled India for saying the goal to succeed in net zero emissions by 2070.
India, a member of IEF, goals to extend non-fossil power to 500 gigawatts (GW), provide 50 per cent of its power wants from renewable sources, scale back CO2 emissions by one billion tonnes, and minimize carbon depth by 45 per cent.
IEF secretary basic Joseph McMonigle counseled India for saying net zero goal on the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference within the UK, the company mentioned in an announcement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed delegates on the convention in Glasgow that India would attain the goal of net zero by 2070.
“I commend Prime Minister Narendra Modi… for presenting ambitious net zero targets and renewable energy goals at the COP26 conference,” mentioned McMonigle.
He mentioned he was trying ahead to working with the power ministers of India to assist the nation’s insurance policies and plans to attain the objectives.
