Nvidia’s Huang was joined on the stage by Reliance Industries’ Mukesh Ambani to formally announce their partnership to build next-generation AI infrastructure in India.
India is on the brink of a massive technological revolution, with computing capacities expected to grow 20 times in 2024. Nvidia founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, made the ambitious forecast during the global chip titan’s maiden AI Summit in the country on Thursday. Huang also said that India will soon become a global exporter of AI solutions, not just an exporter of software.
“India is very dear to the world’s computer industry and central to the IT sector of nearly every global company,” Huang said at the event, underscoring India’s growing importance in the tech ecosystem. He reiterated that Nvidia’s presence in the country is expanding rapidly, driven by the demand for advanced computing and AI technologies.
Huang emphasised that the tech industry is experiencing a “seismic change” due to AI advancements. He predicted that India’s future lies not just in developing software but also in producing and delivering AI solutions with global impact. “India exported software; in the future, India will export AI,” he stated, signalling a shift towards AI leadership.

Highlighting India’s burgeoning digital connectivity infrastructure—which stands toe-to-toe with the US and China—Ambani hailed Nvidia’s computing system GB-200 while expressing “deep respect” for Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg for open-sourcing their Llama AI model. Huang also touched upon AI’s impact on jobs dismissing fears it might increase unemployment in the future. “AI will not take jobs away,” he said, “but the person using AI to do their job better will outcompete others.”
Instead, he envisaged a future where AI will become a personal assistant for everyone. “In the long term, I hope we all have our own AI co-pilots,” he added.
The three-day Nvidia AI Summit 2024 runs through October 23-October 25.
