NVIDIA’s Discrete GPU Market Share Swells To 94%, AMD Drops To 6% In Q2 2025, 27% Increase In AIB Shipments : US Pioneer Global VC DIFCHQ SFO NYC Singapore – Riyadh Swiss Our Mind

NVIDIA has once again recorded its highest-ever discrete GPU market share, now sitting at 94% versus AMD’s 6% in Q2 2025.

NVIDIA Is The Undisputed Discrete GPU Market King With A Monumental 94% Market Share, AMD at just 6% in Q2 2025

Well, it looks like my theory during the previous JPR report was correct, that given those numbers, we will be looking at NVIDIA dominating the discrete GPU segment. Jon Peddie Research has now published the full Q2 2025 discrete (AIB) GPU market report, which shows that the segment saw a 27% increase in total shipments versus the previous quarter. At the same time, data center GPU boards were also up by 4.7%.

The report states that the compound annual growth rate of AIBs will be -5.4% during the forecast period of 2024-2028. During this tenure, discrete GPUs will reach an installed base of 163 million units, and over the next five years, 87% of desktop PCs will feature a discrete graphics card. This shows that the desktop GPU market will be very vibrant even in the coming years as demand for high-performance graphics cards for gaming, professional workloads, and AI use cases continues to grow.

During Q2 2025, NVIDIA once again topped the charts with a mammoth 94% market share, marking a 2.1% growth from the previous quarter. Meanwhile, NVIDIA’s rivals, such as AMD & Intel, managed a GPU market share of 6% (-2.1%) and 0% (0% change).

Given NVIDIA’s recent statements during its earnings call, the GeForce RTX 50 series graphics cards continue to ramp and are selling really well. These numbers shouldn’t be a surprise, given that the gaming segment saw its record revenue, and with the holiday season approaching in Q4, we can expect these figures to climb.

JPR also stated that recent tariffs imposed by the US have made the market go into a sort of panic mode, where the prices of high-end graphics cards have increased while stock has run dry. Entry & Mid-Tier GPUs can still be bought at lower prices, but it looks like the unusual changes within tariffs for different regions are prompting buyers to get new GPUs while they can at decent prices.

  • The AIB overall attach rate in desktop PCs for the quarter increased to 154%, up 2.3% from last quarter.
  • The desktop PC CPU market decreased -4.4% year to year and increased by 21.6% quarter to quarter.

For the coming months, NVIDIA and AMD aren’t planning a major GPU launch. The RTX 50 “Blackwell” & Radeon RX 9000 “RDNA 4” series are mostly complete, and the only surprise can be a launch from Intel in the form of a bigger Battlemage option. The new product lineups aren’t expected until next year.
