Huang to attend robotics and automation trade show at Nangang Exhibition Center
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) is expected to visit Taiwan this week to attend Intelligent Asia 2024, an automation and robotics trade show at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center running from Wednesday to Saturday (Aug. 21–24).
Intelligent Asia will bring together 1,200 global manufacturers, showcasing the latest smart manufacturing technologies, including fields like industrial automation, robotics, smart molds, logistics, and materials. Additionally, forums and panel discussions will be held on the role of AI in supply chains, 3D printing, laser applications, and hydraulics, per Liberty Times.
In recent years, technology companies such as Nvidia have invested heavily in “humanoid robots,” which are expected to be displayed at Intelligent Asia 2024. The market for such robots is estimated to be worth US$50 trillion (NT$1.65 quadrillion), according to Wccftech.
Nvidia has actively invested in robotics, earning investor optimism for “Project GR00T,” a general-purpose foundation model for humanoid robots, allowing robots to understand natural language and emulate human activity. Wccftech and local investors are optimistic that this field of robotics will flourish in the future.
Such optimism has been reflected in the Taiwan stock market, as the share prices of Taiwanese companies involved in robotics such as Salomon Technology (2359.TW) have more than tripled this year. Similar gains have been experienced by KYE Systems (2365.TW) and other “robot concept” shares.
Huang’s repeated visits have led many investors to believe Taiwanese companies have become an integral part of Nvidia’s future business plan. By attending industry events such as COMPUTEX and Intelligent Asia, Huang is forging close ties with Taiwanese companies which may be called upon to become part of Nvidia’s supply chain.
At the moment, Nvidia is not scheduled to make any major announcements at Intelligent Asia. However, the arrival of Jensen Huang will increase anticipation and media attention for the event.
