The 5G stack, which is a complete end-to-end solution, will also be utilised in rolling out Jio’s 5G network

Reliance Jio, for the supply of its locally developed end-to-end 5G stack, is in talks with global operators. For the 5G stack, which has been developed by Jio Platforms, the company is currently holding technical discussions with some international carriers.

“We are in serious discussions with some global operators,” said an executive privy to the talks.

He said the Jio campus and other Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) offices are already running the 5G stack successfully. The 5G stack, which is a complete end-to-end solution, will also be utilised in rolling out Jio’s 5G network.

Consisting of 5G radio, a complete 5G core network, cloud infrastructure deployment as well as the cloud-native operation support system (OSS) platforms, Jio Platforms has developed an end-to-end 5G solution.

“The commercial rollout of 5G services across the country will be done through a combination of network equipment from global firms like Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung as well as its local solution,” said the executive.

Across metro cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata by Diwali, Reliance Jio is set to launch 5G services. By the end of 2023, the company will cover the entire country with 5G. Jio is the only operator in India which plans to roll out its 5G network on a standalone (SA) mode, wherein all infrastructure such as cell sites transmit only 5G signals.
