Offers access to cluster with more than 1,000 B200 GPUs
SK Telecom has launched a sovereign GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) based on Nvidia B200 GPUs in South Korea.
Based on a cluster of more than 1,000 Nvidia B200s dubbed Haein, the new GPUaaS adds to SK Telecom’s existing offering based on Nvidia H100s that was launched in December 2024.
The Haein cluster has been selected by the South Korean Ministry of Science and ICT for the “Proprietary Found Model” project for the development of national AI models.
The GPUaaS has been launched in partnership with Penguin Solutions for integrated AIDC solutions, while Supermicro provided the AI servers. It uses SK Telecom’s in-house virtualization solution – Petasus AI Cloud – which enables SK to partition and reconfigure the cluster according to customer needs.
“Haein’s GPUaaS will serve as a catalyst for enhancing both customer and national AI competitiveness,” said Kim Myoung Gook, head of the GPUaaS Business Office at SK Telecom. “As an AI infrastructure provider, we are committed to building the nation’s AI superhighway.”
According to SK Telecom, the company will continue to expand its GPUaaS business.
The B200 cluster is based in the company’s Gasan, Seoul data center, same as its prior H100 GPUaaS. The H100 GPUaaS was launched in partnership with Lambda, having teamed up with the AI cloud company in August 2024, with plans to deploy Lambda’s platform in the SK data center. Lambda does not seem to be involved with the B200 deployment.
The Gasan data center launched in 2021, with 10 stories above ground and another five basement floors. At the time, it could support 46MW of IT Load across 69,300 sqm (745,940 sq ft). SKT said that the site can currently support up to 44kW per rack.
In November 2024, SK Telecom revealed plans to build gigawatt-scale artificial intelligence (AI) data centers in “key regions” throughout South Korea. In June 2025, SK Group – of which SK Telecom is a part – revealed it was working with Amazon Web Services on an AI data center in Ulsan, South Korea.
