TotalEnergies to Boost U.S. LNG Exports to India : US Pioneer Global VC DIFCHQ SFO NYC Singapore – Riyadh Swiss Our Mind

French energy major TotalEnergies plans to ramp up U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports to India while expanding its investments in renewables, Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné said following a meeting with India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on June 1.

The company has invested nearly $5 billion in India over the past five years, focusing on natural gas infrastructure, city gas distribution, and renewables. “India is now the fourth-largest LNG market globally, making it a key target for long-term supply agreements,” Pouyanné noted. TotalEnergies, the largest U.S. LNG exporter, aims to grow its gas supply footprint in the country, including restarting operations in Mozambique with Indian partners.

On renewables, Pouyanné highlighted the company’s ongoing partnership with Adani Green Energy, which currently operates 14 GW of renewable capacity. “We will continue to support Adani Green’s growth,” he said, reaffirming the firm’s commitment despite last year’s announcement of a pause in new investments pending the resolution of bribery allegations involving Adani’s founder.

The meeting with Minister Goyal-held during the minister’s official visit to France-focused on strengthening Indo-French energy cooperation. Goyal encouraged TotalEnergies to expand its role in India’s energy transition.
